Start with the training you need, not the highest star count. This initial directory covers five Vancouver-based businesses, including providers serving parts of Greater Vancouver. Each had a Google Maps rating of at least 4.9 when checked on October 28, 2026, and an official website describing reward-based or force-free methods. It is a starting shortlist, not an exhaustive regional survey or a ranking of the “best” trainers.
Choose the right format first
For a puppy learning everyday skills, ask about age requirements, vaccination policies, class size and how much individual help is included. For a fearful or reactive dog, ask whether private assessment is more appropriate than a busy group class. A trainer's general services do not mean every course suits every dog.
The American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior's humane-training statement supports reward-based training. Ask exactly what happens when a dog struggles, which equipment is used and whether you can observe a class. Website descriptions of methods are the businesses' own statements, not an independent practice audit. Sudden behaviour changes or signs of pain warrant a veterinary discussion; a directory cannot diagnose a behavioural or medical problem.
Canine Connection Training — Vancouver Area Branch
Google Maps: 5.0 from 106 reviews · checked October 28, 2026. View the Vancouver branch on Google Maps.
The official contact page lists Vancouver, North Vancouver and West Vancouver service areas. Options include in-person training and owner coaching, with online options. Confirm the trainer, format and meeting location when enquiring: this entry is for the Vancouver Area Branch, not its Vancouver Island branches.

Honourable Hound
Google Maps: 5.0 from 167 reviews · checked October 28, 2026. View Honourable Hound on Google Maps.
This Vancouver provider lists private and group training, puppy foundations, manners, nosework and support for reactivity or fearful behaviour. Its own methods description specifies positive reinforcement and fear-free/force-free techniques. Ask which format matches your dog's needs and confirm the class venue before travelling; a Maps address is not a promise that a session is available there.

KRU Dog Training
Google Maps: 5.0 from 39 reviews · checked October 28, 2026. View KRU Dog Training on Google Maps.
KRU offers one-to-one in-home training in Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond and North Vancouver, including puppy and reactivity support. The website describes positive reinforcement. Its terms explicitly exclude group classes, daycare and boarding; do not treat the Maps location as a walk-in facility. Ask about travel charges outside its stated area and the written scope of a package.

Raintown Dog Training
Google Maps: 4.9 from 210 reviews · checked October 28, 2026. View Raintown on Google Maps.
Raintown's Vancouver offerings include puppy classes, basic manners, recall workshops, private training and reactivity coaching. Its classes page describes gentle, force-free methods. Confirm the current course prerequisites, location and availability rather than assuming every option is running. Its official site lists a West 3rd Avenue contact location; that is not a booking confirmation.

Zen Dog lists Vancouver puppy, adolescent/adult, rescue and reactive-dog options, using strategies described as free from fear or force. Questions to ask before paying
Compare the written offer, not just the stars
- Who will deliver the sessions, and which qualifications can you independently verify?
- What methods and equipment are used? What happens if your dog becomes frightened or overwhelmed?
- Is the session private, in-home, online or a group, and is your dog eligible?
- What does the total include: session length, number of visits, travel, follow-up and materials?
- What are the cancellation, rescheduling and refund terms?
- How will progress be assessed without a guarantee that every behaviour will disappear?
For preparation rather than a substitute for individual help, read our loose-leash walking and recall guide and puppy socialisation checklist. Contact the business directly for a current quote and appointment; ThePetClub does not book these services.
Corrections and future commercial relationships
Found an outdated service detail or a changed Maps listing? Contact ThePetClub with the official source so we can review it. We have not verified current appointment availability, independently audited credentials or tested the contact forms. Those limitations matter even when a listing has strong public reviews.
Any future paid placement or referral arrangement must be clearly disclosed and must not be presented as an independent ranking. A commission would not turn a rating into proof of suitability, or replace the questions above. Our advertising disclosure explains the distinction between editorial and commercial content.
